I CAN'T HELP MYSELF

I have always been driven to propel people towards success – whatever that means to them.

With a background as an art director, graphic designer, project manager, creative services expert, and business owner I’m hard-wired to solve problems.

Combine that with my passion for personal development and well, I’m addicted to moving people forward. I want people to succeed and I can see exactly what they need to do, and how they need to do it – sans that frantic, dark panicky feeling in the pit of your stomach.

The world of design + marketing + branding can be truly overwhelming. But here is the thing – you gotta get in the game. Whether you are consciously creating your brand or not, your brand is already there. It exists. And whatever it is saying is affecting your bottom line. You owe it to yourself – and your business – to make it professional, distinctive and valuable. And it can be done with ease and grace. Scout’s honour.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

FIRST PAID GIG AS A CREATIVE

I was 15 yrs old. It was an 8 ft long flow chart for a business consultant. Hand drawn with a black Sharpie and ruler on vellum paper. It took over my parent’s entire dining room. To this day, I still have no idea what that chart was all about. I do remember, however, wondering why it had to be so crazy complicated. I knew there was no way anyone was really going to understand it (despite my beautifully executed venn diagrams). Complicated visuals do not make you look smart, they just confuse your audience.

{Lesson learned: Keep it simple, folks!}

CORPORATE – BEEN THERE, DONE THAT

Following training at the Ontario College of Art and Design, I worked in many stressful, fast-paced design studios, cool ad agencies and corporate organizations. I’ve worked both in-house and client side, and I also did the full-time freelance thing. And yes, I still have the pantsuits to show for it.

As I build my coaching practice and zero in on my niche, I still take on corporate contracts from time to time. More than ever, I value my traditional corporate experience and I respect it as a necessary stepping stone on my path to serving other mavens in the making.

My portfolio includes work for: JUNO Awards, Harlequin Enterprises, Umbra, Rogers Publishing, Agreement Express, Sobeys, Jamie Oliver for Canada, Walmart, Burnbrae Farms, Mood Media, Carlson Wagonlit, HSBC Bank Canada and many results-driven entrepreneurs.

{Spoiler alert – not everyone with a big salary and corner office knows what they are doing, or cares about you, the client. Shocker!}

SCHOOL IS COOL

I was a graphic design + marketing instructor at the post-secondary level for over ten years. As someone addicted to learning, I was completely in my element. I thrived on delivering knowledge that could transform the students’ careers and boost their confidence at such a key time in their lives. I learned the value of exchanging ideas and the impact of being given the right tools to move forward.

{Fun fact: I once had a student named ‘Hollywood’. Yup.}

MY INFLUENCERS

I gotta lotta love for Sir Richard Branson, Victoria Brown (co-founder of BigThink.com), Marie Forleo, Suze Orman, Todd Herman and Canadian bobsledder Heather Moyse (if you get the chance to see her speak on stage, do it!).

MY MANTRA

Fortune favours the brave.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

A sustainable, profitable business begins with inspiration, but ultimately relies on strong creative solutions and strategic planning. And a shitload of perseverance.

WHAT I AM

  • A branding, strategy, marketing and creative expert.

  • A business and personal development coach.

  • A master of brainstorming.

  • 100% transparent. You will have access to all of my creative secrets, strategies, design expertise and network of experts from 20 years in the branding world.

WHAT I AM NOT

  • A financial guru or planner. While I can offer advice as to how to plan your creative branding budget, I do not replace the expert money handlers in your life

  • The person to actually execute your website or design materials. I have a great team of talent to refer my clients to, or I can help you work with your own creative team. I no longer design for clients as my passion is with big-picture strategy.
